What is IONM ?
Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) is the evaluation of neural function during the surgical procedure. Nerve signal changes are monitored and immediately reported by a trained IONM technologist using computerized equipment, allowing your surgeon to incorporate this information into his or her decision-making process for improved safety and patient outcomes.

Why IONM?
Intraoperative Neuro Monitoring (IONM) today, is a well established surgical tool that has technologically advanced over time. IONM is a standard of care during brain, vascular and neurological spinal procedures. It demonstrates reliability and validity during correction of deformities, excision of tumor and brain tissue & other procedures involving neural elements.
IONM allows:
- Identification of important neural structures in the operative field during the surgery
- Detection of signal deviation allowing the surgeon to avoid damage to neurological function
- Modification of procedure or surgical pathway to avoid/reduce neurological damage
- Monitor recovery of pre-existing or peri-surgical neurological abnormalities
- Improved safety in surgical procedures
